Documentation of a performance-happening of the Polish theatre avant-gardist Tadeusz Kantor. The world premiere of the performance was on 21 June 1987 in Milan, later the same year it was performed at documenta 8 in Kassel. The performance is based on a script by Tadeusz Kantor, which adapts Maurice Maeterlinck’s play “The Death of Tintagiles”. This is probably the first performance by the Polish master, at the age of 22, in 1937.

In 1987, after fifty years, Kantor added the second part.

The video edition is based on recordings made during the rehearsals and performances. This visual documentation has been digitized, restored and edited by Change Performing Arts, Milan, Italy. The film screening in Kumu auditorium is the premiere of the restored material.

The film accompanies the exhibition of Tadeusz Kantor in the 4th floor, B-wing of the Kumu Art Museum.

The lecture and film are for free.
After the film: guided tour with Anna Burzyńska at the exhibition for 2 Euro.
