Dear Memories
Thomas Hoepker is one of the most important living photographers worldwide. His images have become icons of photojournalism. He was the first German to be accepted as a full member of the legendary photo agency Magnum and later headed it as chairman. Then Thomas Hoepker was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, a cruel blow of fate, but one he consciously wants to confront, with a lot of humour and zeal for his work. His last big dream: a road trip across the USA together with his wife Christine. Once again they want to embark on a great journey together, a new edition of the trip that established his international reputation as a photographer in the early 1960s. He called that road trip through the USA “Heartland”. Once again, Thomas Hoepker wants to explore the heart of the United States with his camera, the country that has been his adopted home for over 40 years.
